Great success of the concert conducted by Ludwig Carrasco with the Michoacan University Chamber Orchestra last Wednesday, September 7th. In front of a full house the works by Donizetti, Vivaldi, Graupner, and Stravinsky were performed and, due to the favorable response from the audience, soloist and conductor offered an encore: "Escolaso" by Astor Piazzolla in a version for bassoon and chamber orchestra.

UNA SERA ITALIANA
Last Monday June 25th at 6 PM took place the Italian baroque music recital entitled "Una sera italiana". This even, performed at the Conservatorio de las Rosas (Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico) and with free entrance, featured harpsichordist Laura Carrasco, assisted by singer Ricardo Santín and violinist Ludwig Carrasco. The program included works by Claudio Monteverdi, Giulio Caccini, Leonardo Vinci, Giacomo Carissimi, Francesco Conti, Bernardo Storace, Francesco Durante, Leonardo Leo, Antonio Caldara, Giocanni Legrenzi, and Alessandro Scarlatti.

PRESENTACIÓN DEL VIOLINISTA LUDWIG CARRASCO EN EL PALACIO DE BELLAS ARTES / VIOLINIST LUDWIG CARRASCO TO PERFORM AT THE PALACIO DE BELLAS ARTES
En este concierto también participa Irene Carrasco, cellista del Trío Morelia, quien es asidua colaboradora del Ensamble Nuevo de México. El evento tiene lugar a las 17 hs. en la Sala Ponce del Palacio de Bellas Artes de la Ciudad de México.
Violinist Ludwig Carrasco will perform as guest artist of the Ensamble Nuevo de México on May 22nd in the concert cycle "El íntimo decoro¨ organized by the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes. Ludwig Carrasco will premiere, along with flutist Wilfrido Terrazas and pianist Miguel Salmón del Real, the work Lacrymosa II by the Mexican composer Javier Torres Maldonado, who is currently living in Italy; this composition is dedicated to the memory of violist Omar Hernández Hidalgo. In the same concert Ludwig Carrasco will participate with the ENM in the interpretation of works by Enrico Chapela, Marcela Rodríguez, Carlos Sánchez-Gutiérrez, Guillermo de Mendía, Aurelio Tello, Alejandro Castaños, Miguel Salmón del Real, Jorge Vidales, Leonardo Coral, Felipe Pérez Santiago, and Eduardo Gamboa, besides performing aditional premieres of compositions by Sergio Cano, Charles Daniels, Alexis Aranda, Ignacio Baca Lobera, Jorge Dájer, Francisco Cortés, Alejandro Casales, Juan Cristóbal Cerrillo, Andrés Franco Medina-Mora, y Antonio Navarro.
In this concert will also perform Irene Carrasco, cellist of the Trío Morelia, who participates regularly in the activities of the Ensemble Nuevo de México. The concert will take place at 5 PM in the Sala Ponce of the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City.

PRIMERA GRABACIÓN DEL CONCERTINO PARA VIOLÍN DE BLAS GALINDO / PREMIERE RECORDING OF BLAS GALINDO’S CONCERTINO FOR VIOLIN
El próximo miércoles 25 de Febrero se llevará a cabo el concierto de presentación del disco compacto del Concertino para violín y orquesta de cámara del compositor mexicano Blas Galindo. Este disco, que contiene la primera grabación que se realiza de esa importante obra del repertorio mexicano del siglo XX, tiene la participación como solista principal del violinista Ludwig Carrasco acompañado por la Orquesta de Cámara de la Universidad Michoacana bajo la dirección del maestro Mario Rodríguez Taboada.
En el concierto se presentarán también otras obras, incluidas en el CD, de Carlos Jiménez Mabarak, Gabriel Rojas Pedraza, José Saucedo, Bonifacio Rojas, y Alberto Ginastera. El evento se realizará a las 20 hrs. en el Auditorio del Centro Cultural Universitario de la ciudad de Morelia.
On Wednesday February 25th will take place the concert-presentation of the CD with Blas Galindo’s Concertino for violin and chamber orchestra. This CD, which contains the premiere recording of that important work from the 20th century repertoire, features as the main soloist the violinist Ludwig Carrasco accompanied by maestro Mario Rodriguez Taboada leading the Universidad Michoacana Chamber Orchestra.
The concert will also present other works, included as well in the CD, by Carlos Jiménez Mabarak, Gabriel Rojas Pedraza, José Saucedo, Bonifacio Rojas, and Alberto Ginastera. This event will start at 8 PM in the Auditorium of the Centro Cultural Universitario (Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico).

El Sistema Nacional de Orquestas Juveniles de Venezuela y su fundador, el maestro José Antonio Abreu, han sido objeto de numerosos reconocimientos a nivel mundial. Dentro de estos se enmarca una gira de conciertos, dedicada al maestro Abreu, de una orquesta conformada por músicos de diversas nacionalidades hispanoamericanas. De Noviembre 26 a Diciembre 3 este grupo, dirigido por el español Pablo Mielgo, se presentará en Huelva (Palacio de Congresos), Valladolid (Centro Cultural Miguel Delibes), Madrid (Auditorio Nacional de Música), Nueva York (Carnegie Hall), y Miami (Arsht Center) con obras de J. Brahms y P. I. Tchaikovsky. En representación de México participa en este evento el violinista Ludwig Carrasco.

On November 9th at 7 PM will take place Ensemble Labratorium’s (where violinist Ludwig Carrasco performs) debut at the Tonhalle Zürich within the Tage für Neue Musik Zürich. The program is composed of works by de Patrick Franck, Philippe Hurel, Hans Thomalla, y Héctor Parra, and will be conducted by the Swiss Baldur Brönnimmann. Also, the concert will be recorded and broadcasted at a later day by the Swiss Radio (DRS2).

FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE MÚSICA ANTIGUA DE TLALMANALCO / TLALMANALCO INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF BAROQUE MUSIC
From October 10th to the 12th in the city of Tlalmanalco (state of Mexico), will take place the 1st International Festival of Baroque Music with a total of eleven concerts. In the opening night will perform the violinist Ludwig Carrasco alongside with the harpsichordist Miguel Cicero. The program includes works by J. Schop, M. Ucellini, F. I. von Biber, J. H. D'Anglebert, J. M. Leclair, G. P. Telemann, and J. S. Bach. The concert is at 8 PM at the Claustro of the ex-convento franciscano (downtown).

From September 26th to October 5th takes place Instrumenta Contemporánea 2008 in the city of Oaxaca offering composition courses by Emmanuel Nunes (Portugal), Marcelo Toledo (Argentina), Miller Puckett (USA), Ǻke Parmerud (Sweden), and Karlheinz Essl (Austria), among others. In this event the violinist Ludwig Carrasco will perform in several concerts with works such as Einspielung I for solo violin by Emmanuel Nunes and Reflejos Distantes by Karola Obermüller, as well as world premieres of new works by the young composers Jorge David, Paúl León Morales, Josué Zamora, and Eduardo Caballero.

In the past days MEXcultura started broadcasting in its Youtube channel. The goal is to promote the activities of its artists and to reach out to an audience worldwide. The initial videos include performances by the Trio Morelia (Beethoven´s Triple Concerto as well as a sonata from the 18th century anonymous manuscript from the Mexico city cathedral) and new videos will be added continuously in the next weeks.

RESCATE DE MÚSICA MEXICANA / REDISCOVERY OF MEXICAN MUSIC
Este concierto fue realizado dentro de las actividades que organiza el Museo Casa Natal de Morelos de la ciudad de Morelia por los festejos del mes patrio.
On September 25th at 7 PM took place a concert devoted to mexican music with the purpose of rediscovering and promoting forgotten repertoire for this instrumental combination. The concert was performed by Ludwig Carrasco (violin) and Laura Carrasco (piano) and the program consisted of works by Arnulfo Miramontes, Alfredo Carrasco, Ricardo Castro, Mario Lavista, José Sabre Marroquín, Mario Kuri Aldana, and Miguel Bernal Jiménez.
This event was organized within the activities of the Museo Casa Natal de Morelos (city of Morelia).

El concierto es el próximo martes 23 de Septiembre a las 20 hrs en el Teatro José Rubén Romero de la ciudad de Morelia. La entrada es libre.
Héctor Sosa, considered the best Mexican countertenor and one of the best opera voices of the country, presents a concert in Morelia alongside the Trío Morelia within the Baroque Music Festival organized by the Universidad Michoacana. The program includes vocal works by Manuel de Sumaya, Giovanni M. Bononcini, P. Francesco Cavalli, Antonio Lotti, Giovanni Paisello, and Georg F. Händel, as well as several sonatas from the 18th century anonymous manuscript found at the Mexico City Cathedral and the spectacular sonata Victori der Christen by Anton A. Schmeltzer.
The concert takes place on Tuesday September 23th at 8 PM in the Teatro José Rubén Romero (Morelia, Mexico). Free entrance.

Así mismo, este evento marca la inauguración del nuevo órgano tubular Ardoin-Voertman del constructor H. Wolff. La sede del concierto es la Winspear Performance Hall de la Murchison Performing Arts Center en el estado de Tejas (EEUU).
On September 18th at 7:30 PM will take place the world premiere of the work Fanfare Europa (2008) by composer Michael Cortes; the premiere will be performed by the UNT Symphonic Band, conducted by Dennis W. Fisher, featuring the organist Laura Carrasco as soloist.
This event also marks the first public performance of the new Ardoin-Voertman pipe organ constructed by H. Wolff. The concert is presented at the Winspear Performance Hall of the Murchison Performing Arts Center in Texas (USA).

La entrevista tuvo como marco la Catedral de la ciudad de Morelia y será transmitida en fechas próximas.
Last August the organist Laura Carrasco was interviewed for a special cable television program of the Maria Vision channel; the purpose of this program is to show less known aspects of a professional organist's career, such as the type of activities they perform, which kind of studies and preparation are required, the work possibilities for this major, as well as the importance to appreciate the pipe organ instruments and its repertoire.
The interview took place at the Morelia Cathedral and will be broadcasted in the next weeks.

In this catalogue are represented the most distinguished artists (in the different categories for visual arts) from the state of Michoacan. It is worth noting that Natalia Curíntzita was also included in the first volume of this catalogue, published in the year 2007.

On August 6th at 7 PM will take place a concert of baroque music presented by the countertenor Héctor Sosa and the Trío Morelia. This event will take place at the Miguel Lerdo de Tejada Library (República de El Salvador No. 49, Downtown, Mexico City).
They will be performing works by Manuel de Sumaya, Giovanni Bononcini, Francesco Cavalli, Antonio Lotti, Giovanni Paisiello, Georg F. Händel, Anton A. Schmeltzer, as well as several sonatas included in an anonymous manuscript from the Mexico City Cathedral.

The organist Laura Carrasco has recently concluded teaching the Organ Summer Course at the Institute for Sacred Music in the city of Morelia (Mexico). More than 20 young organists travelled from different parts of the country to Morelia in order to attend this course.

CLAUSURA DEL FESTIVAL DE ÓRGANO DE LA CATEDRAL DE MORELIA / FINAL CONCERT OF THE MORELIA'S CATHEDRAL ORGAN FESTIVAL
El próximo día 22 de Julio a las 21 hrs. se llevará a cabo el Concierto de Clausura del Festival de Órgano de la Catedral de Morelia. El concierto final estará a cargo de la organista Laura Carrasco, profesora de la cátedra de órgano de la Universidad Michoacana y del Instituto Superior de Música Sacra de Morelia.
El programa está conformado con obras de Max Reger, Domingo Lobato, J. S. Bach, y Josef Gabriel Rheinberger y contará también con la participación del barítono Ricardo Santín, el violinista Ludwig Carrasco, y la cellista Irene Carrasco.
Coming up on July 22nd at 9 PM is the final concert of the Morelia's Cathedral Organ Festival. This closing event will be performed by the organist Laura Carrasco, professor of organ at the Michoacan University and at the Sacred Music Institute of Morelia.

From June 25th to the 29th took place the exhibit of the Ceramic National Prize at the Refugio Cultural Center in the city of Tlaquepaque (Jalisco, Mexico). In this exhibit the artist Natalia Curíntzita participated with three sculptures from her series entitled “Variations over a theme”.

CONCIERTOS DEL TRÍO MORELIA EN EUROPA Y MÉXICO / THE TRÍO MORELIA PERFORMS CONCERTS IN EUROPE AND MEXICO
Al inicio del mes de Junio el Trío Morelia realizó una exitosa gira de conciertos por Europa. Esta gira incluyó un concierto en Viena, Austria el día 3 de Junio en donde se presentaron bajo los auspicios de la Embajada de México en Austria y el Instituto Cervantes en Viena; allí ofrecieron un programa de música española y mexicana con obras de Enrique Fernández Arbós, Francisco Martín Quintero, Simón Tapia Colman, José Pablo Moncayo, Mario Lavista, y Juventino Rosas.
Tras ello, el día 5 de Junio, el Trío Morelia se presentó en Praga, República Checa, dentro del ciclo Ambassadors Concert Series bajo los auspicios de la Embajada de México en la República Checa; en esta ocasión ofrecieron un programa dedicado a la música mexicana con obras de los autores Armando Lavalle, Mario Lavista, Jose Pablo Moncayo, Simón Tapia Colman, José Encarnación Lopéz, y Miguel Bernal Jiménez.
Una vez concluida su gira europea el Trío Morelia se presentó el día 15 de Junio en el Museo Nacional de Arte (MUNAL) en la ciudad de México dentro del Ciclo de Música de Cámara organizado por el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA). Su programa incluyó obras de Dmitri Shostakovich, Jean Sibelius, Armando Lavalle, y Frank Martin.
At the beginning of June the Trío Morelia toured Europe with great success. This tour included a performance in Vienna, Austria on June 3rd where they performed in a concert presented by the Mexican Embassy in Austria and the Cervantes Institute in Vienna; the program was devoted to Spanish and Mexican music with works by Enrique Fernández Arbós, Francisco Martín Quintero, Simón Tapia Colman, José Pablo Moncayo, Mario Lavista, and Juventino Rosas.
After this, on June 5th, the Trío Morelia performed a concert in Prague, Czech Republic, at the Ambassadors Concert Series presented in this occasion by the Mexican Embassy in the Czech Republic. With a complete program of Mexican music they included works by Armando Lavalle, Mario Lavista, Jose Pablo Moncayo, Simón Tapia Colman, José Encarnación Lopéz, and Miguel Bernal Jiménez.
Once they concluded their European tour the Trío Morelia performed back in Mexico City on June 15th at the National Museum of Art (MUNAL) as part of the Chamber Music Series organized by the National Institute of Fine Arts of Mexico (INBA). This concert included piano trios by Dmitri Shostakovich, Jean Sibelius, Armando Lavalle, and Frank Martin.

Posteriormente, el día 20 se presentó como solista con el Concierto para violín y orquesta de Alban Berg (“a la memoria de un ángel). El concierto tuvo lugar en la Sala Felipe Villanueva (Toluca, Estado de México) con la OSJEM bajo la batuta del maestro Mario Rodríguez Taboada.
During last May took place several concerts of the violinist Ludwig Carrasco. On the 16th he performed at the Lerdo de Tejada Library (Mexico City) a concert of baroque music with Josué Meléndez (cornetto) and Miguel Cicero (harpsichord). The program included works by Dario Castello, Marco Uccellini, Johan Rosenmüller, Heinrich Biber, Francesco Turini, Andrea Falconieri, and Tarquinio Merula.
Later on, on the 20th he appeared as soloist in the Concerto for violin and orchestra by Alban Berg (“to the memory of an angel”). The concert tok place at the Felipe Villanueva Concert Hall (Toluca, State of Mexico) with the OSJEM under the baton of maestro Mario Rodríguez Taboada.

El pasado día 18 de Abril se presentó junto con el organista Roberto Fresco (titular de la Catedral de la Almudena en Madrid) en el ciclo "Órganos de Alicante" con obras de J. S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, M. Reger, y J.G. Rheinberger.
Así mismo, los pasados 29 y 30 de Abril ofreció dos conciertos en Madrid, España como miembro del Prometeo Sinfonietta Chamber Ensemble en obras de cámara de J.S. Bach y J. C. Bach.

CONCIERTO DE MÚSICA ELECTROACÚSTICA
En esta ocasión el trío presentará los estrenos en México de las obras: Calm like a bomb (2000) de Jesper Nordin (Suecia), Any resemblance is purely coincidental (1980) de Charles Dodge (EEUU), Zayin VI (1996) de Francisco Guerrero (España), y übersetzte Geschwindigkeit (2006) de Gary Berger (Suiza), además de la obra Le repas du Serpent & Retour a la Raison (2004) de Javier Álvarez (México).
Este concierto es presentado por el Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras (CMMAS), el Conservatorio de las Rosas, y la Secretaría de Cultura del Estado de Michoacán (SECUM).

CONCLUYE SERIE DE CONCIERTOS DEL TRIO MORELIA EN SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE
Dado el éxito obtenido en ambos eventos el Trío Morelia fue invitado a presentar un concierto adicional en esta ciudad el pasado día 31 de Marzo, en esta ocasión con obras de F. J. Haydn, M. Kuri Aldana, P. D'Rivera, y J. Rosas.

ESTRENO MUNDIAL CON EL TRÍO MORELIA
El evento se llevó a cabo en el Auditorio del Centro Cultural Universitario de la UMSNH (en pleno centro histórico de la ciudad de Morelia) el cual registró una entrada del 90% de su capacidad. Este concierto contó con una amplia cobertura de la prensa escrita y de radio.

ARTISTAS MEXICANOS EN LA BIENAL DE ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO DE FLORENCIA, ITALIA
La Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte Contemporanea de Florencia abre sus puertas del próximo día 1 al 10 de Diciembre de este año en la famosa Fortezza da Basso en el centro de la ciudad italiana. En esta edición 2007 se contará con la participación de la artista Natalia Curíntzita que muestra una selección de esculturas realizadas para su serie “Variaciones sobre un mismo tema“.
Así mismo el día viernes 7 de Diciembre tendrá lugar un concierto de música de cámara con el Trío Morelia; el programa que interpretarán incluye los estrenos en Italia de obras de Armando Lavalle, Mario Lavista (su Trío No. 2, obra comisionada por el Trío Morelia con apoyo de la Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung de Alemania), Simón Tapia Colman, Juan María Solare, además de la obra Sicilienne et Burlesque del italiano Alfredo Casella.
INAUGURACIÓN DE LA EXPOSICIÓN “VARIACIONES SOBRE UN MISMO TEMA“ DE NATALIA CURÍNTZITA
Esta muestra, que presenta el trabajo escultórico que ha realizado este año la artista michoacana, se encuentra en el Museo del Estado de la ciudad de Morelia y se podrá visitar hasta fin de año.

NUEVA PRESENTACIÓN DEL PROGRAMA “CANTATAS BARROCAS“
Como en anteriores ocasiones se contó con la participación del contratenor Héctor Sosa al lado de Laura Carrasco (clavecín) e Irene Carrasco (cello). El recinto registró un lleno completo que ovacionó ampliamente a los artistas que regalaron varios encores fuera de programa.
CONTINÚAN LAS ACTIVIDADES INTERNACIONALES DEL VIOLINISTA LUDWIG CARRASCO
Ludwig Carrasco, violinista del Trío Morelia, realiza desde principios de Noviembre una intensa actividad en diversos países.
El día 10 participó dentro del Encontre Internacional de Compositors Festival Illes Balears 2007 en Palma de Mallorca realizando un concierto de música de cámara al lado de Andrés Gómis (saxofón), Vicente Alberola (clarinete), y Duncan Gifford (piano) en el Teatro Principal de Palma. El programa incluía obras de Anton Webern, Yoshifumi Tanaka, además de estrenos absolutos de los compositores Bartomeu Artigues y José Luis Torá, todo esto complementado con la interpretación de Mikka “S“ para violín solo de Iannis Xenakis.
Posteriormente, ha participado en la gira por Chile del Ensemble Laboratorium ofreciendo conciertos en el Festival de Música Contemporánea Chilena en Santiago de Chile (Jueves 15) y en la apertura del Festival Musicahora de La Serena (Sábado 17). En estos conciertos interpretó obras de Jonathan Harvey, Patrick Frank, y Mauricio Kagel.
Y el próximo día 3 de Diciembre regresa al Teatro Principal de Palma, nuevamente al Festival Illes Balears, como concertino del Ensemble ACA. En esta ocasión el concierto incluye obras de Giovanni Gabrieli, Manuel Hidalgo, Salvatore Sciarrino, y especialmente la obra “Hay que Caminar, soñando“ junto a la violinista Blandine Chemin.

EXITOSO DEBUT DEL VIOLINISTA LUDWIG CARRASCO CON LA ORQUESTA "SIMÓN BOLÍVAR"
ROTUNDO EXITO IBEROAMERICANO CON LA ORQUESTA SIMÓN BOLÍVAR DE VENEZUELA
Caracas, Venezuela, Oct. 25, 2007.- El pasado día viernes 19 de Octubre tuvo lugar en la Sala Félix Ribas del Teatro Teresa Carreño de esta ciudad un magno concierto de la Orquesta de la Juventud Venezolana "Simón Bolívar" teniendo como director invitado al español Pablo Mielgo. Este concierto causó gran expectación entre el público asistente que se dio cita en la sala de conciertos ante el atractivo programa: el Triple Concierto,Op. 56 de Ludwig van Beethoven para piano, violín, y violoncello solistas, seguido en la segunda parte por la Quinta Sinfonía, Op. 64 del ruso Piotr I. Tchaikovsky. Este evento tuvo como invitados en los papeles solísticos al violinista mexicano Ludwig Carrasco, al cellista venezolano José David Márquez, y al pianista español Óscar Martín.
El resultado alcanzado por esta explosiva mezcla de virtuosos fue del más alto nivel expresivo, técnico, y musical; se destaca en particular la belleza lograda por los solistas, en conjunción con la orquesta y su director, en el delicado pero hermoso segundo movimiento donde el fraseo logrado resultó excepcional. Así mismo, en los otros dos movimientos era evidente la gran conjunción de sus intérpretes ya que el virtuosismo del violinista Ludwig Carrasco era igualado por la técnica impecable del cellista José David Márquez, haciendo ambos sonar los constantes diálogos de sus partes individuales como si fuera un solo instrumento; a su vez, el pianista Óscar Martín mantuvo en todo momento un constante contacto musical y visual con sus colegas, llevando a buen fin el papel encomendado para este instrumento por el compositor. La Orquesta Simón Bolívar fue una gran acompañante de este trío, siempre bajo la mano segura del director huésped. Al término de este triple concierto la ovación no se hizo esperar: el público de pie llamó en varias ocasiones a sus intérpretes al escenario, los cuales no ocultaban su beneplácito por la reacción obtenida de su interpretación.
La segunda parte mantuvo el nivel de calidad exhibido en la primera parte. Mielgo entregó una versión cargada de energía, incluso con momentos electrizantes donde los músicos de la orquesta tocaban con gran entrega y precisión. Uno tras uno, los movimientos fueron pasando y confirmando que aquella iba a ser una velada memorable. Al término, nuevamente el público premió a los intérpretes, incluso de manera desbordada cuando el director levantaba uno a uno a los principales "actores" de esta representación. De entre ellos es de notar el magnifico solo que nos regaló el Corno Principal de la orquesta.
Un gran concierto con sus seis excelentes ingredientes: la orquesta, el director, los tres solistas, y por supuesto la música.

El aforo del concierto fue del cien por ciento, teniendo el museo que habilitar incluso sillas extras para el numeroso público. Este concierto se presentó dentro del ciclo de “Jueves Artísticos” que organiza el museo en colaboración con la Secretaría de Cultura de Michoacán (SECUM).
